Cylinder Bureau Desks
What is a Cylinder Bureau Desk?
Often seen as a precursor to the roll top desk, a Cylinder Bureau desk is a desk which has a revolving cylindrical-shaped top which can be pulled down and locked when you have finished working.
Manufacturing the revolving cylinder shaped locking top proved somewhat difficult to achieve with the technology and tools available at the time that this design became popular and this style of desk was therefore expensive and time-consuming to produce which resulted in it being adopted only by those who were able to afford such luxury.
We always try to keep a good choice of Cylinder Bureau desks in our inventory – please take a look and see if there is anything you like the look of and check back regularly as our stock is constantly changing.
