This fantastic antique parquetry desk has been made in the French Louis XV Revival style and dates from around 1880.
This lovely mahogany bureau plat has highly decorative ormolu mounts of caryatids on the legs as well as other lovely gilt bronze decoration. There is a decorative gilt bronze border, raised corner cartouches together with a green leather gold tooled writing surface.
This antique parquetry desk has three frieze drawers on one side and dummy drawers on the other meaning that it is freestanding and can be placed in any part of a room. This beautiful mahogany bureau plat is raised on four stylish cabriole legs which apart from the gilded ormolu caryatids, also terminate in ormolu sabot feet.
There is also fantastic inlaid parquetry decoration and there are further ormolu mounts and handles all of which contribute to the spectacular styling of this lovely mahogany bureau plat. It also has the original key and working locks.
