This very ornate and impressive antique Victorian writing table or desk is crafted from beautiful burr walnut with a wonderful band of marquetry decoration to the writing surface comprising flowers, parakeets and so on – see the close-up image below for a detailed look at this impressive marquetry.
The writing surface is particularly impressive with its beautiful burr walnut grained centre, surrounded by the most exquisite marquetry decoration – truly a feast for the eyes and, of course, totally unique – it just makes you want to polish it!
The writing table has a decorative scroll carved border above a single full width frieze drawer and it is mounted onto scrolling x-shaped end supports which are joined together by a carved stretcher. These supports, or legs, each stand on scroll feet fitted with the original brass castors.
