This is a compact antique Victorian pedestal desk which we have dated to have been made around 1860 and which is offered for sale in truly excellent condition.
The desk is made from carefully selected flame mahogany of the very finest quality as a close inspection of the photographs supplied will confirm. The desk top writing surface is inset with a rectangular green leather insert which has been gold tooled and also features an attractive ogee moulded edge which has elegantly rounded corners.
To provide storage there are three good sized drawers located in the frieze in addition to three short graduated drawers located in each of the pedestals.
This Victorian pedestal desk still has it’s original handles and locks and it stands on sturdy brass castors for ease of movement around the room as required.
This antique pedestal desk is supplied complete with working locks and key for secure storage of your stationery, correspondence and private papers. To the rear, this desk is nicely finished and, as such, does not necessarily have to be placed against a wall, as can be seen from the following photograph.
