Circa 1840 in date, this is a wonderful example of a William IV period Antique partners table, antique library table or antique partners desk in solid mahogany.

This fine antique library table has been crafted from wonderful solid mahogany, the wood of choice for famous furniture makers such as Thomas Sheraton who dominated English 18th century furniture making. He believed that mahogany was such a fine wood that it was an ornament to any room in which it was placed. This piece certainly shows how well mahogany can be fashioned and polished.

The writing surface of this lovely piece comprises and inset tooled faded green and gold leather.

The faceted legs terminate in brass castors, a detail that is completely typical of the styling of the William IV period. Being able to be moved easily, this antique library table can be positioned flexibly in a room to make creative use of the space.

This piece features drawers on either side of the table, making it a Partner’s desk. The drawers are beautifully lined with mahogany making them not only of the highest quality but also durable.

They are amply sized meaning stationery items can be easily stored and making it a very practical piece of furniture.
