This vintage Louis Revival bureau plat writing table desk in kingwood is a fantastic example of the form.

Dating from the last quarter of the 20th century, this wonderful kingwood bureau plat writing table has elegant rosewood panels and gilded bronze mounts. Kingwood is highly prized for furniture and is almost exclusively used for inlays on very fine furniture. It is very hard and is therefore very difficult to work with hand tools and has a tendency to blunt tools due to its strength. Rosewood is also a much prized furniture wood which is also very hard and difficult to work. Together these two woods are used to make only the finest furniture and we hope you will agree the effect of the two together is stunning.

French Bureau Plat

This bureau plat writing desk has a striking hand tooled and gilded leather writing surface. Although this type of surface was originally designed to provide a good ground for handwriting without needing something to ‘rest on’, it now also provides a good surface to place a laptop or computer without needing to worry about damaging a highly polished surface.

When it comes to storage this bureau plat writing desk has three large drawers ideal for storing stationery and other writing implements. The drawers feature wonderful gilded bronze handles which have an usual leaf design all adding to the elegance of the overall design.

The writing table desk also features tapered legs which terminate in gilded bronze mounts which also add a touch of elegance and luxury to this exquisite piece.

It can stand freely in the middle of a room being finished on all sides making it a flexible piece ideal for any large home or office.
