Dating from the latter half of the twentieth century, this is a large and finely crafted vintage Louis XV style writing table, or bureau plat, that is sure to become a talking point wherever it is situated.

Good looks alone however do not do justice to this fine vintage Louis XV style writing table. As you can see from the photographs provided, the writing table has been constructed to the highest standard and is ebonised and generously decorated throughout with a number of exquisite and ornate ormolu mounts.

For added comfort, convenience and style, the writing area has been finished with a striking burgundy coloured and gold-tooled real leather writing surface, as can be seen from the following photograph:

To provide storage for your stationery and other office essentials, there are three very useful and capacious drawers included as well.

The style is described as “Boulle” in resepct of its adherance to the style created by a certain Andre Charles Boulle (1642-1732) who was a renowned French cabinetmaker and who was generally considered to be the pre-eminent artist in the field of marquetry. This fame in the craft of marquetry led to his name being given to a particular style of inlay which became known as Boulle work or “Buhl” work.
