Dating from around the end of the twentieth century, this is a striking and impressive Empire style bureau plat or writing table that has been skillfully made from top quality walnut and rosewood parquetry which has been delicately embellished with ormolu mounts and plaques.
Looks, however, are often not enough when it comes to finding a desirable desk and in the case of this Empire style bureau plat, ample storage is provided by the three large and capacious drawers, all of which are supplied with working locks and keys. Furthermore, to make writing even more of a breeze, there are three useful pull-out slides located at each side and in the centre of the frieze.
The writing surface and the slides feature beautiful parquetry decoration enhanced with delicate inlaid crossbanding, and, as you can see, the Empire style writing table has the most amazing ormolu mounts.
