This is striking and very impressive antique Davenport desk which has been finely crafted from top quality burr walnut and is dated circa 1860.

As you can see from the photographs, this desk has been expertly made by someone who was clearly a master craftsman. The quality of the work throughout is impressive and very accomplished. The burr walnut that has been painstakingly selected and used with great care is of the highest quality.

As a thoughtful and very useful touch, the desk has been finished on all sides and can therefore stand freely in the middle of a room which makes it not only lovely to look at but very versatile as well.

This Davenport has a serpentine fall, four drawers on one side, perfectly sized for all the stationary you could possibly need, and dummy drawers on the other, making it not just a symbol of refinement but a practical furnishing as well. It also has has a decorative hand carved walnut fret gallery.

The pull out writing slide can be raised at an angle for comfort and features the beautiful original inset navy blue, gold tooled leather and has a compartment for storing papers, pens, etc.

It stands on turned bun feet, has the original recessed brass castors and comes with working lock and original key.

In excellent condition having been beautifully restored in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation.
