Beautifully and expertly restored in our own workshops we can now offer for sale this very fine example of an Antique French Louis XV Revival Marquetry Bureau which was made around 1870.
This piece is an antique French kingwood & rosewood marquetry Louis XV Revival secretaire a cylindre which is decorated throughout with beautiful floral marquetry. The decorative subject matter includes a lovely marquetry panel of birds together with musical instruments, all carried out to the highest of standards with exotic woods and presented on a rosewood background, this being located in the centre of the cylinder.
On the top of the bureau you will note there is a very nice inset Marmo di Carrara marble top which features a gilt brass three quarter gallery.
The cylinder opens to reveal a fitted interior with four small drawers and a pull out writing surface fitted with the original inset leather, so there is ample space to write your letters.
Located below the cylinder you will find three small drawers above a single full width drawer. These will give you ample storage space for your stationery items and look very attractive as features on the front aspect.
By way of support, this bureau is mounted onto ormolu mounted cabriole legs.
Furthermore, it has its original ormolu handles and mounts and is supplied with the original keys and fully working locks.
This bureau measures some 101cm high x 71cm wide and 43cm deep. If you prefer inches that would be 3ft 4in high x 2ft 4in wide x 1ft 5in deep.
We are ready to pack and ship this fine piece worldwide – please request a shipping quote before ordering – or to any location in mainland UK to which shipping would be free.
